The medications ideal.fit doctors prescribe in our Protocol are called GLP-1s (glucagon-like peptide-1s).

ideal.fit doctors prescribe a variety of GLP-1s: semaglutide, liraglutide, tirzepatide, and dulaglutide.

These GLP-1s are often referred to by their brand name, so you may have heard of these medications as:

• Wegovy®

• Saxenda®



All GLP-1s are clinically tested, stimulant-free, and non-habit forming. GLP-1s address the underlying biology that is most important for weight loss, and help lower your set point, or the weight your body fights to stay at. GLP-1s are powerful, naturally occurring hormones made by your gut that send signals to your brain to decrease your appetite, improve your metabolic system, and regulate your digestion so you can feel full longer and maximize nutrient absorption.

Many GLP-1s are taken via an injection under the skin into your fat, not muscle. Almost all patients report that the injections are nearly painless, quick, and easy. GLP-1s are self-administered either daily or weekly as directed.

Glp-1 medications fight weight with biology

GLP-1s are different from older classes of prescription weight loss medications (like phentermine) because they work on key underlying metabolic pathways to support sustained weight loss. They're not just another quick fix. ideal.fit doctors prescribe a variety of GLP-1 medications, including semaglutide and liraglutide, which you may know under brand names like Wegovy®, Saxenda®, Ozempic®, or Mounjaro®.

Reduce inflammation

GLP-1s are clinically proven to reduce inflammation markers, leading to decreased inflammatory response and oxidative stress. CRP (C-reactive protein), a general inflammatory marker, is one marker we may follow during your Protocol.

Shift set point

GLP-1s aid in shifting your body’s set point (the weight your body fights to maintain) by impacting areas in the brain—to help curb cravings, make you feel full faster, and increase your energy expenditure.

Regulate digestion

GLP-1s slow how quickly food moves from the stomach to the intestines. This helps you feel full for longer by regulating sugar absorption in the intestine.

Improve metabolic function

GLP-1s regulate blood sugar levels by increasing insulin and decreasing glucagon—only when blood sugar levels are high. GLP-1s also improve whole-body energy metabolism by increasing the insulin sensitivity of muscle cells and regulating fat cell development.

The majority of commercial insurance plans cover GLP-1 medications after the deductible is met, but each plan's coverage can be unique. Your ideal.fit physician will review your required lab work and entire health history and can answer any questions you might have about medication interactions during your initial video doctor visit.

GLP-1s (the medications that ideal.fit doctors prescribe) can be safely taken with most common prescription medications—including those for blood pressure, thyroid, and diabetes—and have no contraindications with other prescription or over-the-counter medications. Dosage adjustments of blood pressure and diabetes medications are often necessary as you lose weight and become metabolically healthy.

You can use your HSA or FSA funds to pay for the ideal.fit protocol.

Your ideal.fit physician will review your required lab work and entire health history and can answer any questions you might have about medication interactions during your initial video doctor visit.

The FDA-approved medications that are a part of the Protocol are called GLP-1s, and are clinically tested, stimulant-free, and non-habit forming. Side effects are extremely rare, and most individuals who take a GLP-1 do not experience any.

For those who do, nausea is the most common, and this typically resolves over the first few weeks of being on the medication. If you do experience any side effects, you’ll be able to reach out to your Medical Team directly for support.

In the most recent clinical trials, less than 5% of people discontinued GLP-1 medications because of side effects. However, in the incredibly rare case that you have side effects that make you ineligible to participate in the program, you’d be offered the choice to stay in the program with a non-GLP-1 medication called metformin (if clinically appropriate) or to partially refund your program based on the amount of time you were able to participate.

Your initial doctor appointment with your ideal.fit doctor will take place through a secure video portal and last approximately 30 minutes. During this appointment, your ideal.fit doctor will review your health history and lab results with you and make recommendations for your treatment plan. If you have any questions about the medications that ideal.fit doctors prescribe, your individual health history, you can ask your doctor these questions during your appointment.

ideal.fit programs are paid for upfront and are non-refundable except for in the following scenarios, outlined in this policy. Please note that although you can withdraw from the ideal.fit protocol, at any time, you are only eligible for a refund as set forth below.

Protocol:

• If you change your mind and decide to cancel your Protocol within 72  hours of purchase, you may request a full refund for the amount you paid using the instructions below.
• If you change your mind and decide to cancel after 72 hours of joining but before your initial doctor appointment, you may request a refund for the amount you paid, less a $200 fee to cover a portion of the cost of the beginning of your Protocol, which includes your account set up, and clinical coordination.
• If you have not lost at least 10% of your body weight by the end of your ideal.fit Year and you meet the criteria for our Results Money Back Promise, you may request a refund, less the fee for your initial doctor appointment.

Receiving a Refund:

• ideal.fit programs are not refundable, except under the circumstances outlined above. If one of the above reasons applies to you, you can cancel your ideal.fit membership anytime by emailing [email protected] with the subject line “Cancellation Request”.
• If you paid for your Protocol by credit or debit card, we will credit your refund to your card on file within 10 business days of ideal.fit confirming you are refund eligible. ideal.fit will notify you of whether you are eligible for a refund by responding to your request.
• By accepting a refund, you are electing to withdraw from your ideal.fit program.

• Are between 18 - 64 years of age 

• Have commercial or employer insurance (except Kaiser Insurance)

• Have a BMI that is >30, or >27 with one or more of the following metabolic conditions: diabetes, pre-diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, obstructive sleep apnea or PCOS.

• Who are not pregnant or breastfeeding

• Who do not have an active substance abuse problem, an active eating disorder (e.g., anorexia or bulimia), cancer, recent bariatric surgery (within the past 18 months), active gallbladder disease, a history of pancreatitis in the past six months, or a history of medullary thyroid cancer (MEN syndrome) 

• Who live in the United States

ideal.fit's approach to food is flexible and works with nearly all dietary restrictions, including gluten-free, kosher, vegetarian, carnivore, paleo, keto, and lactose-free. We strive to help you establish a sustainable and flexible approach to nutrition that focuses on minimizing fast-digesting carbs and making healthier choices that include protein, fiber, and healthy fats—without counting calories.

• The ideal.fit food program is not a diet; it’s a lifestyle change that avoids highly processed sugars and industrial seed oils (vegetable oil).
• We do not use meal replacements or special smoothies or shakes.
• We don’t restrict what you’re eating, instead we help you identify the highly processed and highly addictive foods to avoid and substitute them with real food.
